Time Credits help to foster this by valuing the time given by local people to drive service transformation, and by creating the community links that will make this vision sustainable.
Originally commissioned in 2017 by Cornwall Council Drug and Alcohol Action Team, the Cornwall Time Credits network initially worked with adults with multiple complex needs to support recovery, housing and DASV. Time Credits support people to volunteer their time in services and their local community to develop skills and confidence for individuals to move forwards.
Since 2020 the programme has been extended to include supporting vulnerable families and young people, working with over 60 Earn Groups including the Best Start in Life teams.
The Time Credits model works simply: for each hour you contribute to your community or service, you earn a Time Credit. This Time Credit can then be used to access an activity, such as local attractions, leisure activities, school holiday clubs and food and drinks.
