SignHealth strive to educate, empower, encourage, and protect Deaf people from all forms of domestic abuse and sexual violence. They provide the only domestic abuse service that specialises in supporting Deaf people and deliver services across England.
They can offer support and advice linked to housing, children, therapy and the legal system. A dedicated worker can also work with you when dealing with other agencies such as the police.
SignHealth can also offer training as detailed below. This training is free.

SignHealth Resource ListThe Safer Rainbow project provides support for LGBT+ victims of domestic abuse and sexual violence across Devon and Cornwall.
‘Do You See Me?’ is a short film co-produced by victim-survivors from the LGBTQ+ community and Dewis Choice. This film provides an insight into domestic abuse from the ‘lived experiences’ of four older people.
The EOS Joint Commissioners Board have awarded funding to the Women’s Centre Cornwall to explore recommendations for domestic abuse services around working with older people, as well as creating a training toolkit for professionals. This project is currently underway and we hope to be able to share resources soon.
Dewis Choice provide research, training, information and advice and a host of useful resources around older people and domestic abuse. Visit Resources – Centre For Age Gender and Social Justice.
In partnership with Dewis Choice, Norfolk Safeguarding Adults Board has produced the animation Hidden Harms, which aims to highlight the unique challenges that older adults face when they are affected by domestic abuse.
We are using the term MECs to reflect the fact that non-white british individuals are a minority within the domestic abuse system and we recognise the need to increase awareness and access to support for victims and survivors within those communities.
