Safer Cornwall is supporting 16 Days of Activism (25 Nov-10 Dec 2021) by raising awareness about the prevalence of gender-based violence and encouraging individuals, businesses and organisations to reflect on how they can help tackle the issue.
Our focus is on challenging the cultural and societal norms that underpin gender inequality and male violence against women and girls. Full details of our programme of events and partner activity here.
The focus of the conference will be children and young people with an aim of raising awareness of the voice of the victim and the service provision available in Cornwall.
We will be hosting speakers from a selection of specialist services, delivering information about the prevalence of the issue in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly and the provision of local services for women, men, young people and children impacted by sexual abuse and violence.
Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence Awareness Week is an international campaign that aims to raise awareness, challenge social and cultural norms that perpetuate and tolerate sexual abuse and sexual violence and improve service provision for all those affected by the issue.
The prevention of Sexual Abuse and Sexual Violence is one of Safer Cornwall’s priorities and to achieve this goal we need to ensure that our communities understand the complexity of the issue and the impact it has on a person’s life.
If you or someone you know has recently been impacted by sexual abuse or sexual violence and you would like help, please contact the NHS Sexual Assault Recovery Centre (SARC).
