Screening of “Steve” Thursday 19th Spetmeber 19:30

The Director of the film (Ben Akers) made the film after his childhood best friend, Steve Yates, ended his life by suicide. In this documentary, Ben goes on a mission to look at why this is happening, and what men can do to help themselves. He begins by talking to Steve’s family, health professionals and ordinary men who are suffering – often in silence. From there he explores the solutions with people who are using their experiences to create positive change.

I went to the premier in Bristol a few months ago and it’s a very moving, powerful film that also focuses on the ways we can all help ourselves to be mentally fit.

Ben will be at the screening and will host a discussion after the screening. I hope that many of you will be able to join us.

Being in Falmouth, this also provides the opportunity to lead into the next Towards Zero event which will be at the Princess Pavilion, Falmouth on Thursday 10th October from 17:30, as well as to informally discuss suicide, safer Falmouth and how we collectively take this work forward.
