Specialist Domestic Abuse Court (SDAC)

Cornwall’s Specialist Domestic Abuse Court (SDAC) launches on 5th October 2026, providing a coordinated and trauma-informed response to domestic abuse cases heard at Truro and Bodmin Magistrates’ Courts. The SDAC brings together criminal justice partners, specialist domestic abuse services and safeguarding agencies to improve outcomes for victims and survivors while holding those engaging in abusive behaviours to account.

What is SDAC?

SDAC is a specialist court approach designed to improve the criminal justice response to domestic abuse through enhanced multi-agency working, improved victim-survivor support and greater perpetrator accountability. A Specialist Domestic Abuse Court (SDAC) is not simply a dedicated court list for domestic abuse cases. It is a coordinated, multi-agency model designed to improve victim safety, increase offender accountability, and ensure domestic abuse cases are handled by professionals with specialist knowledge.

All staff are encouraged to familiarise themselves with the SDAC and continue to support victims of domestic abuse through appropriate referrals, safeguarding and information-sharing processes.
